Why Your Cup Feels Different by Day Four
Ever notice your cup felt perfect at the start of your period, then suddenly felt low or uncomfortable a few days in? You're not imagining it, and nothing's wrong with you. Your cervix actually moves.
Your cervix isn't stationary
Throughout your cycle, your cervix rises and falls. Around ovulation, it tends to sit higher and feel softer. As you approach and move through your period, it descends. That means the space your cup or disc has to work with is changing day to day, sometimes even higher-to-lower within the same period.
What that means for your cup
A cup that fits beautifully on day one, when your cervix is riding higher, may start to feel low, achy, or like it's sitting right at the edge by day three or four. That's your cervix descending, not a sizing issue.
The fix: don't be afraid to switch mid-cycle
You don't have to stick with one product for your entire period. A lot of our customers use their cup for the first half, when their cervix sits higher, then switch to a disc for the last low-flow days when their cervix has dropped. The disc's flexible bowl and stay-in-place rim are built to accommodate that lower position comfortably.
How to check where you're at
Wash your hands, get comfortable, and gently feel with one finger. If your cervix feels close to the entrance, you're likely in a lower phase- a great sign it might be disc time. If it feels farther up, your cup's probably still doing its job just fine.
There's no wrong way to figure this out. Your body isn't static, so your period care doesn't have to be either.
